Another Testimony

I wanted to share this awesome experience Lud and I had Friday.

Friday was Moneta Elementary School's fall festival. I am the secretary so I was there hocking raffle tickets and PTA memberships.

At the beginning of the school year, Noah came home and said that a friend from preschool was there. That may not sound like a big deal but considering we were in preschool in Roanoke County (an hour away) and we lost touch with this family as we went to different elementary schools. I though that is was so cool that Noah had a little friend.

Well, at the festival Lud and I were talking to this little boys' mom. I knew that she is a Christian. She told me that over the summer that her son was a bit nervous about changing schools and was worried about not knowing anyone. So they started to pray that he would make fast friends with his new classmates. And low and behold, he knew Noah and they picked up where they left off where we parted ways in the Spring of '07.

As I was listening to this mother speak of praying to God that He would have a friend for her son I started to tear up. It is amazing that God can move things in such a way that He will take care of our worries. The fact that we moved here so suddenly this spring, the fact that there were not enough children to have 2 second grade classes just amazes me.

I can remember about 6 years ago that I began praying that God would use me as He saw fit. It was very scarry at first because I didn't know what He was going to do. But now I see that I was worrying for nothing. He will take care of those that trust in Him.

My prayer is that you are trusting in Him and only Him.

1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

Too busy

Well, here we are...the end of the first 9 weeks is quickly approaching. Noah and Luke are liking their new school and doing well. Noah enjoys school and does well- all A's and B's. Luke is having a bit harder time. His teacher is working very hard at helping him make good choices. The first few weeks were hard but he is getting the hang of it. :)

I am liking my job- lots! It keeps me busy but I like it.

Lud has finally been in town for a few weeks and we like it.
Last week was Lud's 34th bday. We had friends and family up this week-end. The Browns, Cousin Doug with 2 girls and Jerry and Margaret. It was cloudy and cool but we had a great time!

I hope you all are well and drop me a line on FB or shoot me an email!

The End of Summer...

Well, the end of summer is here. The boys started at their after school daycare, Mayberry Early Learning Center, today and I go back Thursday! As I was driving home from Lynchburg today I realized how blessed my family has been this summer. Lud got a great job, I was offered a full time teaching job, we sold our home, we moved with no problems, found child care and have settled into our new routines very well. I can not stress how much God's providence reigns in our lives!

Well, this past week-end was a fun one. We had a family reunion at my mom and dad's. My cousin, Shannon, is moving back to VA after being in Minnesota for nearly 5 years. It was wonderful seeing him and the rest of the family. And then on Monday, Beth and her family and Nick came up to the lake. Noah skied for 11 minutes around the cove- he did two turns and didn't fall! Okay...I'll post some pictures soon. I know I keep saying that.

Summer is winding down

Okay- first I have to say...where has the summer gone? Granted a fair amount has happened since the beginning of June- we moved, went to the beach, got settled in, Noah had 2 camps, Luke has one and they both went to VBS, we had a nice family reunion and lots of play time at our new house.

As the school year approaches, I am getting more nervous about the school year starting. I am very excited! But the gravity of my job has dawned on me. I hope to start some planning next week.

The boys have spent the last week in Roanoke with my mom and dad at a camp at Cave Spring Baptist Church. They have enjoyed being there but I think mom and dad are looking forward to returning them. :)

Lud and I have enjoyed being a couple for a few days. We had a nice kayak ride yesterday. We took the kayak up the cove and then into a smaller cove and then followed the cove up as far as we could take it. It was really neat to see the creek filling into the lake. There is a pretty crane that lives back there.

I seriously need to get some pictures up. I'll take some pictures when the boys get back.

Fun Days

Well, I have been busy...PTA conference in Richmond. I went as a part of Moneta Elementary School. I will be serving as the Secretary this year. I learned lots! :-)

Today after church, the Browns came down. We enjoyed a beautiful day of boating, skiing and swimming. Parker (the Brown's five year old son) got up and so did Noah. Thomas skied as did I. I have decided that I am going to take my picture and sent it into Enbrel to show them how well their meds work!

My cousin, Beth, and her family are coming tomorrow to stay for a few days. We are all looking forward to that.

Hoping to get some pictures posted. :)

What's goin' on...

Well, for starters we got ourselves a nice kayak. It is a two and half person- it's big enough for me, Lud and the boys. It is blue and so much fun. I really enjoy taking it out in the evening and enjoying the views from the water. Noah and Luke like it too. The only thing I need is a dolly to take it down to the water. It is really long and quite heavy.

I'm off to Richmond tomorrow morning for the state PTA conference. I am looking forward to getting to know some of the other ladies from Moneta Elementary and the evening away from the boys.

Speaking of the boys, I spent a part of the afternoon painting their bathroom a very sunny yellow. And after that I got to pick gum out of Luke's DS. For some reason, he thought that he could put chewed gum in the cartridge slot and then put his game in there. SO, I got it out of the DS and spent about 15 minutes picking the gum off of the game cartridge. Thanks Luke.

Hmm...what else...Noah has enjoyed an Animal Habitats summer camp at his new school. He has made two little friends. Yeah Noah!

I need to get some pictures up here. It will probably be just a few- we are on broad band cards and don't want to waste my bandwidth on them.

Okay- I'm tired...gotta go!

Our Testimony

I thought I'd share our story from the last few months. Needless to say, it has been a rocky road full of tears and joys.

The story begins back in January of this year. Lud found out from his boss at his former job that things were not going well. There wasn't much work and Lud decided to look for a job. Lud diligently looked for work at his previous place of employment, asked former co-workers who had branched out on their own and put in some resumes at other locations. No one was hiring. I had a wonderful job at Cave Spring Baptist Preschool- working with wonderful children, loving co-workers and great hours. I was able to put Noah on the bus and pick him up and Luke came to work with me. However, the pay was not much. I began looking for a job so I could go right into a job once the school year got out.

Well, the hammer fell on Palm Sunday. Lud's boss called him at home on Sunday afternoon to tell him that he was no longer employed. While we knew it was coming, it was still a blow to us. Since Lud is in technology, we figured that he would be out of work for quite a while. We decided our next step wast to put our house up and move into my parent's vacation home an hour away. I was very emotional. We had moved into this home as newlyweds (18 months married), brought my babies home to this house, stayed home with my babies, watched them grow...and now we had to move.

In the mean time, Lud had felt a calling to return to our former church home, New Century Church. Our pastor's wife was very excited and invited us to a church dinner. We decided to attend. We sat at round tables. We sat next to some old friends and the other couple sat beside Lud. We knew them but not very well. It turned out that the man, Tom, was a sales rep for the telephone system that Lud wanted to learn. Lud told him his story and said he would try to get Lud an interview. Well, two weeks later Lud was hired!

In the mean time, we got the house ready and put it on the market. Our house was on the market for 5 days and we got a contract on it. We were so thrilled that God allowed this to happen so quickly.

Additionally, I had found a job at Head Start. I am certified to teach 6 through 12 Social Studies. I had wanted to find something in my field but no one had openings. I enjoy preschool children and decided this was the best option for me and our family. However, the only openings they had were in full time centers; which means that I would be working in the summer. So my mom graciously agreed to watch the boys for me. Well, I got into a routine but the boys never did. They became disrespectful, disobedient and just rude. I could tell that my mom was at the end of her rope. I decided to leave Head Start, hopefully temporarily, to get the boys acclimated to me working and our move. I asked my direct supervisor to come back in the fall and she said no. So, that week-end I applied for the only social studies opening I could find and it happened to be in Bedford County where we were moving to. So I applied, send the principal my cover letter and resume. Well, after two interviews I was offered the job and I start in a month!

But during this time, God really worked on my heart and Lud's. Lud accepted Christ as his savior three years ago. After many years of prayer on my part and others around us, Lud realized that he is a sinner and needed Jesus to bridge that gap between him and God. However, Lud was reluctant to be baptized by immersion as we do in the Baptist Church. We Baptists believe that the baptism doesn't save you it is just an outward symbol to the church that you are saved and want everyone to know it.

Additionally, God allowed Lud to loose his job and the realization that everything comes from God really hit home for me. So that first unemployment check we got, I tithed for the very first time. Sure, we have given to the church for years but never tithed our 10%. I figured it was easier to start tithing at that point because were were coming from nothing to something. So I started tithing in April.

So, Lud finally realized that he needed to be baptized and he was baptized by his good friend, Thomas, on Mother's Day. It was a surprise for me and I was so excited. Luke got to see it. However, Noah was in Sunday School. Noah has been telling us for 2 years that he has Jesus in his heart. And he has said for a year that he wants to be baptized. But Lud and I were unsure since he was so little. But once he heard Lud had been baptized, he got persistent. Noah was baptised on June 7th.

I always believed that God would take care of you. But coming through by relying on God I now see that God will take care of you- all you have to do is be obedient. My prayer for those of you reading this is: my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ- put your trust in Him, give Him your worries, he will take care of you and for my friends that are unsure of their salvation- cry to the Lord and He will save you.

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear...look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" Matthew 6: 25a, 26-27

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
